Outono Vivo 2026: books, talks and shows in Praia da Vitória
Praia da Vitória's literary festival, built around a big book fair, runs 30 October to 15 November 2026, with author talks, concerts and plays, and a tribute to Vitorino Nemésio.

Updated 28 October 2026Outono Vivo, the literary festival of Praia da Vitória, reaches its 21st edition from 30 October to 15 November 2026, according to the Câmara da Praia da Vitória. At its heart is one of the largest book fairs in the country.
What's on
Around the book fair, the programme adds conversations with authors, concerts and plays, at the Academia de Juventude e das Artes da Ilha Terceira and the Auditório do Ramo Grande. This year's edition marks the 125th anniversary of the birth of the writer Vitorino Nemésio.
Practical notes
The book fair is the anchor of the festival; some shows have their own box office, so check the programme for each one.
On Saturday 7 November the festival runs a free guided literary walk on Nemésio's trail; book by 6 November.
