Nine islands, one archipelago

Dream up the trip, then do it — without the planning headache

The Azores sit roughly 1,400 km off mainland Portugal, nine volcanic islands scattered across the mid-Atlantic. Each one has its own personality. São Miguel is the largest and most varied — crater lakes at Sete Cidades, boiling springs at Furnas, whale-watching year-round off Ponta Delgada. Pico is built around Portugal's tallest mountain, with UNESCO-listed vineyard walls carved from black lava. Faial brings sailors to Horta's painted marina and volcanic ash fields at Capelinhos. Terceira mixes cobbled UNESCO heritage in Angra do Heroísmo with lava-tube adventures at Algar do Carvão.

Smaller islands reward travellers who want quieter ground. São Jorge is famous for its cheese and dramatic fajãs — cliff-edge terraces formed by landslides. Flores earns its name with waterfalls and year-round blooms. Graciosa keeps a slow, old-world rhythm around its windmills and caldera. Santa Maria has the archipelago's best beaches and the only fossil record in the Azores. Corvo, barely 17 square kilometres, is a single collapsed volcano with a crater lake and fewer than 500 residents.

Doazores is built to make booking in this region as simple as booking a hotel in a big city. Every activity is run by a local guide — a certified skipper, a licensed canyoning instructor, a marine biologist who knows which pod of sperm whales is off which coast this week. We vet each operator before they list, set the commission flat so guides earn a fair share, and keep the booking flow free of the upsell funnels you'd find on global OTAs.

Whether you want to swim with dolphins, summit Pico at sunrise, learn to cook cozido in a Furnas thermal pit, or just find a good restaurant tonight — this is the place to dream up your Azores itinerary, and the place to do it.

Exactly the kind of full-island day trip we hoped for. Great viewpoints, smooth pacing, and a guide who knew when to stop for the best photos.

We saw both whales and dolphins, and the marine biologist made the whole trip feel more credible and memorable than a standard boat tour.

A very easy way to try local flavors without planning every stop ourselves. The wine pairings and market context made it feel genuinely local.

Demanding but absolutely worth it. Our guide kept the group moving safely and the summit views were the highlight of the whole Azores trip.
