Tremor is the festival that wakes São Miguel up at the end of winter. Every March since 2014 it has spread music across the island, from city stages in Ponta Delgada to places you would never expect a concert. The 2027 edition runs from 16 to 20 March.

What happens

The programme mixes concerts in halls with performances in natural settings, walking performances, immersive experiences, artist residencies and talks. Look out for the festival's own formats, such as Tremor Todo-o-Terreno and Tremor na Estufa. Cultural houses such as the Arquipélago contemporary arts centre, the Coliseu Micaelense and the Museu Carlos Machado are among the festival's partners, and the line-up is posted on the official site.

Tickets and getting around

General passes for 2027 have already sold out. Check the festival's ticket page for any other tickets released later. Events happen in several towns, and the festival guide describes a shared Tremor bus circuit between venues, plus the capacity and access conditions for each space.

Practical notes

March on São Miguel is cool and changeable, so bring layers and a rain jacket, especially for the outdoor sessions. The festival is backed by the municipalities of Ponta Delgada, Ribeira Grande and Lagoa, and its events spread well beyond the city, so plan your transport between venues.

Local tip

Leave room in your plans for the outdoor formats. They are often the moments people remember most, and they show you corners of the island you might never find alone.
