Fajã dos Vimes - Fragueira - Portal
A short south-coast climb from Fajã dos Vimes through a terraced vineyard fajã, ending at a cliffside village church.

The trail starts near the small recreation harbour at Fajã dos Vimes, where it's worth pausing for locally grown coffee or to see the patchwork quilt workshop before setting off. It crosses the fajã heading west on a cliff-top dirt track lined with Australian cheesewood, passing a junction with PR02 SJO and the Grande Rota, with Pico visible out to sea on the left.
The path then reaches Fajã da Fragueira, crossing old vineyard terraces and traditional wine cellars, and passes the ruins of the house where the composer Francisco de Lacerda lived for eight years after the First World War. From there an old stone staircase climbs the cliff toward Portal, ending at the village church.
At 3.1 km and about 1 h 30, this is one of the shorter walks on São Jorge, but it is rated medium for a reason: it gains roughly 320 m of climb against only about 120 m of descent, so the whole route tilts steadily uphill.
